At Yimbo in Bondo on Saturday, Odinga dismissed claims that he will not have time for local politics, adding that he will spend most of the time in his Nairobi offices.

“I want to clarify that the recent appointment will not affect my political ambitions,” he said at the funeral of William Odhiambo, a former ambassador.

Earlier, his elder brother Oburu Oginga had insisted that Raila will still be active in politics, slamming his critics as 'unfocused' individuals.

And Raila, whose closeness with President Uhuru Kenyatta is causing jitters within Jubilee administration, said however much he will be criss crossing Africa, he will be 'very much involved' in local politics.

“Although I will be crisscrossing African capitals, my base will be in Nairobi. I am not going anywhere," he said.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001301467/i-am-not-quitting-local-politics-raila-declares

A day after his appointment, a section of Jubilee leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto, asked him to retire.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro said the appointment should allow Raila focus on international politics rather than the local matters.
