Deputy President William Ruto has demonstrated his readiness to participate in the 2022 race for statehouse.
The Deputy Head of State has since made it clear that he will be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the much anticipated contest.
Speaking on Wednesday, Ruto bashed his rivals whom he accused of depending on laughable bases to ascend to the top seat.
He said that realizing the presidential dream can only be achieved through planning and mobilization.
The other, added the DP, is handwork, hitting out at the competitors whom he said are depending on endorsements to win the race.
"Politics is about planning and mobilisation. There is nothing like this (State House seat) being endorsed, or given.
I have seen some hanging around waiting for endorsements. How do you expect to be endorsed for this seat, surely? This one, this, you must work for it," he said, according to the Nation.
The DP spoke when he hosted a delegation of elected leaders from Western Kenya at his Sugoi home in Turbo constituency, Uasin Gishu county.
This comes at a time when the number of aspirants eyeing the seat expected to expand.
So far, Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader and his Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart Musalia Mudavadi have already announced their pending bid.
Also in the list is the youthful Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Leaders who attended Ruto's function included Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambiliamga and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
Others included Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi, Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and John Waluke (Sirisia).
