Deputy President William Ruto offered Christmas gifts to hundreds of his neighbours and invited children from the Kipkaren children’s home on Monday at his home in Sugoi home in Turbo.
In the company of his wife, Rachel Ruto, the Deputy President lauded parents for devoting their time and resources to cater for their essential needs as part of the society.
“We appreciate for what you do this with our kids, we shall continue to make sure that you are looked after,” Ruto said.
He encouraged parents to provide children with their needs as "they are part of our families", affirming that the government has provided free primary and secondary education as well as Universal Health Care to be accessed by all Kenyans including those from humble backgrounds.
The DPs wife applauded institutions set to take care of less fortunate children and the orphans left in the streets asking them to continue in prayers to overcome financial challenges.
“I know it’s not easy to bring up an orphanage like this, maybe you are looking for help from somewhere including promises that may not come through but God will enable you,” Rachel said.
The DPs family gave various Christmas gifts to the children and neighbours including goats, wheat flour among other essential items.
