People are almost forgetting the importance of having safe sex, which includes reduced chances of contracting infections and avoiding unwanted pregnancies.

It has come to the limelight that many sex hunters are hitting on random people, men and women, young and old, and either mutually agree to have sex or one part forces the other part to engage into sexual matters on beaches, and especially inside the waters.

If you visit any beach, in Mombasa County, Kwale or Kilifi, they are in full, especially this festive season.

Unfortunately, not all are after enjoying the cool breeze from the ocean or swimming in the salty water. Some are after sex partners either to quench their desire for money or body feelings.

Some of the culprits in the vice are beach boys, who either use cunning tricks to have sex with unsuspecting women or force them. Surprisingly, none of them use condoms to either protect himself or the lady they are victimizing.

Most beach boys believe in this myth which says "salty ocean water prevents one from getting infected when they have sex inside the ocean."

"Haya maji ni dawa, kama tumbo la kwako lina shida kunywa haya, kusafisha ngozi iwe laini. Ngono kwenye maji haina madhara hata mimba hashiki, hii chumvi yaua viini vyote mwanangu," said Haji, a beach boy at Diani.

He revealed that many beach boys engage in sexual activities inside the ocean without use of condoms because they 'know' disease-causing bacteria and viruses cannot survive in the ocean.
