Many parents have paid extra amounts in school fees to ensure that their kids are picked and dripped by school buses at their doorsteps. But who convenient or safe is this for your kids? Parents wake up early and ensure their kids are ready for school by 6 am.
This is quite late for some schools though. But the actual thing is that your son or daughter will spend an hour or so in the school bus as they try picking up other kid from the estates and neighbour.
With the kind of weather in the morning, remember there is no air conditioner the bus, your child will absorb all the cold in the name of picking up other kids.
In Nairobi, morning and evening traffic jam is a routine. This means your child will spend an extra hour in traffic as they try to manoeuvre through the busy streets making it to school at 8 am.
Even though Dr Matiangi brought sanity in the school transport sector, this has not been embraced fully as the school management will pack more than enough pupils in the bus.
In some instances, five or more pupils will be packed in the front seat which is uncomfortable for and exposes all those on board to possible accidents.
By the time the child arrives at school, (s)he will be exhausted that it will reduce the overall performances.
Why don’t you drop your kid to school yourself if you are capable?
