TV journalist Jacque Maribe has been forced to beg for clothes since she was released from Lang’ata Women’s Prison on October 30.
In a statement to the high court, demanding an immediate action against the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti, Maribe says she has been denied access to her house in Lang’ata despite a court order.
As a result, Maribe says she has been forced to beg for clothes, accommodation and even transport as her car is still with investigators.
“It is an absolute violation that despite explicit court orders, provision of law and undertakings by the prosecution, that materials have not been supplied to Ms Maribe on timelines provided and that the default has persisted for long,” Maribe’s lawyer Katwa Kigen says in a statement.
Maribe now wants the DPP and DCI boss be found of acting in contempt of court.
The journalist is facing charges alongside her lover Joseph Jowie Irungu over the murder of Nairobi businesswoman Monica Kimani.
She was released on a Sh1 million bail by the high court.
Her lover was denied bond after the DPP convinced the court that he can intimidate witnesses as well as being a flight risk.
