Kennedy Wandiri tops the Shield scorers' chat with 6 goals as Leopards' Odera is shy of 2 goals.
Even as the curtains fall down on the FKF SportPesa shield cup final pitting Kariobangi Sharks against Sofapaka; the competition will likely have the top scorer accolade taken by an outsider and little known Riverplate's Kennedy Wandiri, incase Leopards Ezekiel Odera does not find the back of the net thrice.
Inside Wandiri's Riverplate:
Riverplate FC is a Kakamega-based team that was formed two years ago and features in the fourth tier Western Branch league.
The team consists mainly of young players drawn from colleges while others work as casual labourers.
They made to the Shield quarterfinal after beating then NSL side Nakuru all-stars, Kisumu All-stars and Transcom, before succumbing to soldiers, Ulinzi Stars in a 4 -1 defeat.
Thus, the tides look to favour Wandiri, and he will be crossing fingers hoping that Leopard's Ezekiel Odera does not score on Saturday as they play against Ulinzi in the shield third- playoff match.
