Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda has predicted doom for a section of Jubilee Party members operating under the Tangatanga tag.
Kamanda leads the Kieleweke faction of the ruling party, which has been involved in exchanges with the pro-Deputy President William Ruto rival one.
Kieleweke supports President Uhuru Kenyatta and is against Ruto's 2022 presidential plans.
Speaking on Sunday, Kamanda lashed out at Tangatanga MPs hailing from Uhuru's Mt Kenya bedrock who have been campaigning for Ruto, predicting a loss for all in the 2022 polls.
“There are MPs going round the Central region campaigning under the pretense of donating to churches. I feel for them because come 2022 they will not be getting any votes for going against our president,” he was quoted by the Standard.
He spoke during a church service at the ACK St Thomas Church in Huruma, Nairobi, while in the presence of his fellow Jubilee MPs and a others drawn from the opposition.
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi faulted Ruto and team for engaging in early politicking, noting that 2022 is still years away and the nation should be using the current time to address better issues.
“We have more pertinent issues to discuss as a country, such as the high cost of living, corruption and insecurity, yet people insist on going round the country abusing the President and Raila over handshake,” he said.
Cherangany lawmaker Joshua Kuttuny urged Uhuru to crack the whip on MPs opposed to his 2018 truce with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga.
Kamanda also lauded a section of churches which have been rejecting contributions from the political class, in line with the ongoing fight against corruption.
