A section of leaders feels Kalonzo has failed to lead the Kamba nation and it is time for him to join political retirees.

Kangundo West MCA Titus Kaloki has urged Kalonzo to also step down as the Ukambani political kingpin to pave way for young, energetic and visionary leaders to lead the community.

In an opinion piece, Kaloki, who doubles as the Deputy Minority Whip in Machakos County Assembly said it is evident that Kalonzo has failed to live up to the expectations of the residents of the region.

He said the time has come for him to bow from national politics after many years of being active.

Kaloki argued that the Wiper leader has nothing to show despite being in the leadership for decades.

He further commended governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) for standing up boldly to ask Kalonzo to retire from politics.

“It is fair that Kalonzo paves way for fresh blood to take over because his performance has been below par. The former VP has not been able to marshal the community to vote as one, a matter that saw other parties make serious inroads in his strongholds in the last two elections,” Kaloki said.
