Muthama said the economic and political challenges facing the country can only be solved if the 2010 constitution is amended.

He argued that the 2010 constitution has created tribalism and political suspicions among Kenyans.

Muthama said electoral reforms and justice will be achieved if the constitution is amended.

“I support the calls to have the 2010 constitution amended in order to address the pertinent economic, social and political issues facing the country,” Muthama said.

He addressed the press in Mavoko, Machakos County on Monday.

Muthama said there is no harm in amending the constitution for Kenyans' interests.

He warned that the country will plunge into crisis if the law is not amended with the focus on ballooning wage Bill.

The push for constitutional review has heated up with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga supporting it.

However, a section of politicians among them Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says it is too early to amend the constitution.

Kalonzo says the push to amend the 2010 constitution is not genuine.

“Constitutional amended is not a priority right now and I don’t see the need for review,” Kalonzo said.

Deputy President William Ruto is also among top politicians opposing calls for the constitutional amendment.
