A man accused of stealing clothes shocked many when appeared in court naked.

Alex Mugo appeared before Embu Resident Magistrate Jean Ndegeri on Monday to answer to his charges.

He said that the police took away his clothes during his arrest on Sunday.

The 32-year-old told the court that they claimed that they were part of the merchandise he stole and wanted to use them as exhibit.

The latter appeared before the judge dressed in only a leso covering his privates after refusing to take substitute clothes offered to him by the officers.

He at some point attempted to drop it off in front of Justice Ndegeri.

According to the prosecution, he stole three trousers, two vests and two shirts belonging to Vincent Musembi in Kaunda Estate on January 10.

The complainant said that the clothes worth Ksh4,000 were stolen from the clothesline after he washed and hung them to dry before leaving for job.

The court was also found in possession of a khaki trouser and a pink shirt at Blue Valley area on January 13, this being his second charge.

The police also said that the latter was found in possession of 11 rolls of bhang worth Ksh550 at the time of his arrest.

He did not take plea after the prosecution proposed the same basing on his dressing, reports the Citizen Digital.
