Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has finally revealed why Msambweni lawmaker Suleiman Dori was spared from expulsion.
In an interview Monday, he explained that the MP was given a second chance to explain before the ODM National Governing Council (NGC) after begging for forgiveness.
He said that the parliamentarian is not off the hook yet and will be appearing before the council soon to explain why he defied the party laws to associate with an outsider.
"Dori was not expelled because he confessed to having broken the party laws and promised to change. However, he will be appearing before the council to further explain why he should be spared," he said.
Sifuna was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha Show on Monday morning.
This comes only days after the expulsion of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa with whom Dori publicly denounced the party and declared support for Deputy President William Ruto of the ruling Jubilee Party.
Sifuna said Dori will have to personally avail himself and explain publicly, the same way he did when he was rebelling against ODM and its party leader Raila Odinga.
"The NGC said that it doesn't want letter but he must come in person. It wants to hear the apology directly from him," added the former Nairobi senatorial hopeful.
