The story of Beatrice Elachi's removal from office is sad news to the 'girl child' who relies of women figures in positions of leadership for motivation.

Whereas young girls in Nairobi continue to express their displeasure with Elachi's exit, a closer understanding of the situation reveals that she is not just the only woman bundled from office.

There have been other high-profile women sent home because of a patriarchal system that does not give women a second chance.

The following are the other women:

1. Former PS Lilian Omolo

Ms Omollo was sacked in a mini cabinet reshuffle after her implication in a Sh9 billion NYS scandal. The manner in which her case was handled, and the manner in which she was sent to Lang'ata prison despite her poor health, serves to tell us one thing -  that the government would be very far if it did that to the real criminals. But as it was, it was only the system trying to get rid of a woman. Other bigger suspects of graft are out enjoying their freedom because they were lucky not to be born women.

2. Gladys Boss Shollei

There was the 2-month period of suspicion, leaked emails, and the question of Sh80 million lost from the Judiciary Service Commission. Shollei had to be sacrificed and go.

3. DCJ Nancy Baraza

This was probably one of the most controversial dismissal when put in context. Baraza had a confrontation with a security guard. She was dismissed. Later, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino had an even greater physical confrontation with a guard who was directing him to follow the law. Babu's case was thrown under the carpet like nothing happened. He was a man.

4. Anne Waiguru

Waiguru's debated ouster from her CS position is throws a lot of suspicion on the system. Under mere suspicion, the male-dominated society was quick to drop her from office. Even senior politicians close to President Uhuru Kenyatta came calling for her blood and she was not given enough airtime to defend herself in the court of public opinion. She was finally sent home; did any court find her guilty?

The above 4 examples might not be the end of the journey. The winds have been of late blowing towards the hut of DCJ Philomena Mwilu and it is not known for how long they will blow before turning into a storm or simply calming down.
