Ruto is usually known by his ‘Hustler’ tag which he likes associating with due to his humble upbringing.

His popular phrase ‘my friend’ is also another way Kenyans use to refer to the DP.

On Saturday, however, the ‘Hustler’ got a new name during a funds drive in aid of Dini ya Roho Mafuta Pole Afrika Church in West Pokot.

The church nicknamed Ruto Rimmon.

It was immediately not clear why the church decided to nickname Ruto as such though the move caused laughter.

According to a religious site, Rimmon is the name of a man of the tribe of Benjamin at the time of King Saul.

Ruto hailed the Dini ya Roho Mafuta Pole Afrika Church for urging its members to enroll into schools in the war against illiteracy.

“I thank this church for embracing education and encouraging children to go school. Its only through education that we shall be able to develop this county,” he said.
