Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will on July 3rd host youth leaders from Gusii region in what will be a continuation of his closed door meetings with opinion makers across the country.
Ever since reconciling with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr Odinga has limited his movements to Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi, often discussing national unity.
Apparently, the meeting with Gusii youth leaders will come exactly five days after the tour of DP William Ruto to North Mugirango constituency.
Gusii MPs Parliamentary Group chairman Joash Nyamoko on Saturday confirmed Dr Ruto's trip, which is scheduled this Friday. Ruto was in Nyamira three weeks ago.
"Kindly you're all welcome to usher in the DP. He will be coming on Friday 28th July to our constituency," said the Jubilee MP.
Former NASA Secretariat leader and minister in Nyamira County Jones Omwenga said the meeting with Raila will only focus on Handshake and development.
"We shall be hosted by the ODM leader and our main focus will be on the Handshake and development. We have no intention to discuss politics at all," he said.
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire who also served as Kitutu Masaba MP in the last parliament is said to be the organiser. There are also plans to wage a counter campaign against Ruto in Gusii region.
Since 2017, Ruto has toured Kisii and Nyamira Counties in a record 22 times and his trips haven't gone well with Mr Odinga. Raila has been controlling the region.
