The former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka will be dealt a major blow if Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana throws his weight behind Deputy President William Ruto in the next presidential election.
Kibwana with his counterparts Alfred Mutua Machakos and Charity Ngilu Kitui have been revolting against Kalonzo, who vowed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta after the handshake
The Makueni governor has been one of the major people Kalonzo have been depending on for his grassroots in Ukambani.
The governor jump-shipping to Ruto’s camp means Kalonzo will have a hard task to make sure that he gets full support from his homeland. Recently, there has been an allegation that Kibwana has resigned from his chairman position in the party.
If the resigning allegation of Kibwana from the party is confirmed to be true, Kibwana and his fellow governors in Ukambani could form an alliance that will shake the wiper party famousness in Ukambani.
This means that the Kambaland will be divided and will not vote in blocks as it has been doing in the previous elections. Both Kalonzo and Ruto have declared an interest in 2022 presidential election and they are confident of winning it
