Speaking at the facility during the official opening, the NGO's Director Aszed Wendo said the long and harsh moment that expectant mothers in the rural areas undergo is what prompted them to construct the facility that will now serve hundreds of women in the area and surroundings.

Wendo said the facility will help address challenges facing maternal health sector in the areas of Lomolo and Mogotio as women from the area will now be able to access maternal health services from the facility without having to walk long distances.

“Women at grassroots have gone through a lot and that is why we came up with this facility so that we can help them,” she said.

Nakuru County Executive for Health Dr Gichuki Kariuki on his part commended Dandelion Africa for coming up with the facility that he said was also in line with the County Government's agenda on health and also the National government's agenda on universal healthcare.

Dr.Gichuki said the county government will support the facility by donating an ambulance as well as deal with referrals.

According to the CEC, 300 ambulances are being purchased and will be distributed in all the sub-counties to ease referrals.

“As a county under the leadership of Governor Lee Kinyanjui we are committed on matters health and therefore we shall partner with Dandelion Africa on the same,” said Dr Gichuki.
