The brutal murder of Sharon Otieno, a second year Rongo university student and her unborn baby has put the country’s investigating agencies on the radar.
Investigations into the shocking murder are ongoing as pressure piles on the police to act fast and arrest the killers.
Sharon’s murder has also exposed and brought to the fore previous mysterious killings of university students and other Kenyans that are yet to be solved.Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi now wants the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to intervene and tackle the unsolved mysterious murders.
She says that the families of the people murdered mysteriously are crying out for justice.
The MP notes that the country will not move on unless criminals who kill innocent Kenyans are exposed and punished.
Here are the mysterious murders the Wajir MP wants DPP Haji to urgently look into.
1. Jacob Juma
The businessman was murdered in 2016 by unknown assailants.
Juma was a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga and a section of politicians allegedly claimed that he was assassinated.
A probe report on his mysterious murder has never been made public.
Perpetrators of the murder have also never been arrested and taken to court.
2. George Muchai
The late Kabete MP was murdered by unknown assailants along the Uhuru Highway in Nairobi on 2015.
Several suspects are in court in connection with his mysterious killing.
3. Mercy Keino
She was a student at the University of Nairobi (UoN).
He was killed by unknown people and her body dumped along Waiyaki way in Nairobi’s Westlands in 2011.
Investigations into her death have never been made public.
4. Carren Chepchumba
The 26-year-old lifeless body was discovered by her brother at her apartment in Nairobi in 2012.
She was an employee of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).
Investigations into Chepchumba’s mysterious murder has never been made public.
However, the case is in court.
5. Chris Msando
He was the IEBC ICT Director before he was brutally murdered.
Msando was killed just days before the August 2017 general election.
His murder was linked to his role in the management of the polls.
Investigations into his brutal murder have never been made public.
Msando’s family and politicians have been appealing to the government to punish his killers.
6. Carol Ngumbu
The 21-year-old was murdered alongside Chris Msando.
Her body was discovered meters from where Msando’s had been dumped.
She was a graduate at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and is said to have been on attachment before her brutal death.
7. Sharon Otieno
The Rongo university student's lifeless and mutilated body was discovered in a thicket in Homa Bay last week, days after she was abducted along with Nation Reporter Barrack Oduor.
An autopsy report reveals that Otieno was stabbed eight times and died as a result of excessive bleeding.
The deceased unborn baby also died as a result of the stab wounds.
Investigations into her brutal murder are going on with the DPP assuring the public that action will be taken against those implicated.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado is among people who have been quizzed in connection to the murder.
There are other mysterious killings apart from the one's highlighted here whose perpetrators are yet to be arrested and arraigned in a court of law.
