A 22-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison after a court in Migori found her guilty of defiling a minor.
Delivering the judgment on Monday, Rongo Senior Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat noted that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence linking the woman to the crime.
The woman who worked as a house help was found guilty of defiling her employer's six-year-old son and knowingly infecting him with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), reports Citizen Digital.
The magistrate argued that the house help defiled the boy despite knowing her health status as she was on medication.
Magistrate Langat also noted that the boy suffered psychologically following the incident, adding that he had to undergo treatment and was also put on medication.
The woman is said to have committed the offence on March 30, 2019.
She has been given 14 days to appeal the judgement, failure to which she will serve the life sentence.
