Kisii County Governor James Ongwae is in hot soup over an increased number of street kids loitering in Kisii town.
Young Women Democrats chair-lady Esnas Nyaramba accused Governor Ongwae of failing to ensure street kids are taken back to school.
"Most of the streets kids drop school because they are orphans without anyone taking good care for them. The county government of Kisii is doing nothing to clear the street kids from the town," said Nyaramba.
Nyaramba claimed that Governor Ongwae's government has sidelined street kids.
She challenged Governor Ongwae to intervene for the sake of ensuring those children spending their lives in streets are taken back to vocational training centers.
"Ongwae's government promised to construct a safe house at Kiamwasi area where street children can be taken to learn various skills so that they can make their own money instead of turning to be beggars at the streets," she noted.
Nyaramba regretted the number of street children who are dying as a result of sickness while at the streets.
"The county should move with speed to help the street kids to avert more deaths," she added.
