Wambui Mwangi claims that she was abducted by armed robbers masquerading as police officers along the Kamau-Gakoe Road in Kiambu.

Wambui said that the thugs had packed a car by the roadside and accused her of speeding before bundling her to the backseat and driving off.

"There were several men in police uniform who flagged her to pull over. Once she obliged, the men accused her of speeding although this was false given she was travelling on a rough terrain road," a fellow journalist, Victor Kinuthia said.

According to a Facebook post by Kinuthia, the thugs stole Wambui's camera, a camera stand, a laptop and other valuables before abandoning her in the bushes and speeding off in her car.

She later reported the incident to policemen manning a roadblock and is now seeking the public's help to recover the Toyota Premio, registration number KBZ 859B.

"She walked for several hours before she finally came across police officers manning a roadblock where she reported the incident," he added, as quoted by Kenyans.

Wambui was reportedly coming from Kijabe Hospital when the incident occurred.

Ironically, the incident came only hours after the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet ordered the arrest of civilians donning clothes that resemble police or military uniforms.

He warned that such people will be handled as per the law.
