Nduluni and Kavingoni Mixed Secondary schools were razed down in what the police termed as arson incidents.

In Nduluni secondary located in Kilome sub-county, a dormitory that accommodates 151 boys was burnt down while students were attending their morning preps on Monday morning.

The incident was confirmed by Mukaa police boss Charles Muthui who said the fire started at 5 am as students went on with their preps.

"The fire started at 5 am, the students had already attended their preps. Nothing was salvaged as the fierce flames brought everything to the ground," Muthui said.

Muthui noted that there were claims the fire could have been started by rowdy youths.

He, however, said police have launched investigations into the incident.

Muthui said there were no casualties.

In the second school, Kavingoni secondary in Kathonzweni, over 200 students were left with no place to lay their heads after raging fire consumed their dormitory in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

According to Makueni police boss, Bosita Omukholongolo, there's a high possibility the fire was an arson attack.

Omukholongolo said nothing was concrete until police launch a probe.

He said the police, together with officers from Kenya Power arrived at the school to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire is said to have started at a corner of the dormitory at around 6 am.

There were no casualties.

The students' personal effects were completely burned.

Efforts to reach the principals of the two schools bore no fruits, they were out of reach.
