Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko have lauded multi-agency team for their efforts in recovering the victims of Likoni Tragedy.
On September 29, a car slid from MV Harambee ferry which was moving from Likoni mainland towards Mombasa Island and plunged into the Indian Ocean with two occupants, a mother, Mariam Kighenda and her four-year-old daughter, Amanda Mutheu.
It took multi-agency divers led by the Kenya Navy 13 days to retrieve the car and the bodies from the seabed, a task that was completed on Friday, October 11.
Joho and Sonko took to social media to laud the efforts the divers put in salvaging the bodies from the water.
"Asante Mungu we have seen your miracle..To all parties involved in the retrieval, men and women who have never slept for the last 13days just to make this exercise a success, may God BLESS YOU...may you never lack anything....wasn't easy leaving your families behind not knowing whether you will be back too...I've no enough words for you," read Sonko's Facebook post.
Joho who also lauded the divers before expressing his heartfelt condolences to the deceased's family.
