The Jubilee Party's decision to snub the Migori senatorial by election is a wrong move which should be given a serious reconsideration.

The party Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Sunday announced that the ruling side will let the dominant Orange party have its way in the race in line with the Building Bridges Initiative.

The seat fell vacant following the death of former holder Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to cancer in last month, with the race to get his replacement already picking pace.

A host of candidates have since declared their interest to replace him on the Orange party ticket, including former Rongo lawmaker Ochilo Ayacko.

Others are the late Oluoch's sons Willis Oluoch Okello and Mark Okundi, both of whom are also eyeing the party ticket, with many more likely to emerge as the poll nears.

This would have enabled Jubilee to sail right across the ODM candidate as a result of disunity, with nomination failures likely to go on an independent ticket.

Therefore, the Jubilee side has missed a good opportunity to once again beat opposition leader Odinga right at his doorstep.

It has further lost a golden opportunity to further weaken the minority opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) which is already disadvantaged in Parliament.
