Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's declaration over how he got his wealth has elicited mixed reactions among residents in the county.
Waititu who has been on the spot over corruption allegations has finally come out to clear the air over questions of how he got his wealth.
"Mimi sijatafuta pesa leo baada yakuwa governor.Watu wawache maneno mingi, hizo nyumba nilinunua kitambo.Na records za loan ziko kwa bank, waende waangalie,” Waititu said.
He further sounded a warning to those using false information to bring other people down.
"People should not use false things to bring people down. I cannot steal the money of people who elected me,” added the Kiambu Governor.
However, his remarks have elicited mixed reactions among Kiambu residents.
"Governor, that's a good show that you are ready for the lifestyle audit, work for the people who elected you first before giving a hear to those rumours," said Kimani Bruce.
"Kama umeshikwa tii amri bwana gavana...pave way for those who are clean to lead but I don't blame you, I blame my vote," said Moses Gitau.
"Waititu has never stolen and will never steal. It is good he has finally said he secured a loan from bank unlike those who have looted the country," Cate Muthoni noted.
"EACC should be ashamed for wrong information they get and please go for those killing us with poisonous sugar first before coming to disturb our beautiful county," said George Kamau.
"Waititu should face the law like other corrupt governors. We cannot just sit and watch somebody looting our county resources, concerned authorities should act swiftly," said Steve Mwangi.
"Kenya will remain Kenya, you think Waititu will be jailed? Never! Take that to the bank," posed Esther Wanjiru.
"Governor endelea na kazi yako wacha hao wenye wamepotelewa na network waongee hadi wachoke," noted Konini David.
