An argument between two MPs in Parliament about Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 State House bid almost degenerated into a fist fight on Thursday.
The argument started when Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi could not tolerate remarks by Tiaty MP William Kamket Kasait who had asked why the woman rep is backing the DP's bid to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House when his term officially ends.
Kamket, who is supporting Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's presidential bid is said to have received a thorough verbal attack from the Wajir lawmaker who is claimed to have almost bashed him with a sugar bowl.
"He likes being all over me and today I could not tolerate it anymore," Fatuma said as quoted by local celebrity news site Mpasho.
Fatuma is a close ally of the deputy president and is among leaders from the far-flung North Eastern region who have thrown their support for the DP to become president.
She is also among MPs from the volatile region who are said to have been lined up to lead campaigns for the DP when 2022 nears. Local media reports show she is working closely with Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale who is also a close ally of the DP.
Ruto has expressed interest in contesting for the presidency in 2022.
