This is after Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago suggested that such people should be charged for using the pathways that are built along almost all major roads in the town.

Speaking during Kass Marathon held at the Eldoret Sports Club on Sunday, Madago said he might b forced to compel the County Assembly to set laws which will see people weighing more than 90 kilograms pay for using the pathways.

"I have set pathways and fully installed streets lights so that the residents can fully exercise by running along to prevent them from suffering from obesity or be overweight and yet some do not utilize the resource," lamented Mandago.

"It is very bad for one to suffer from obesity when one can exercise by walking either during the day or night at our streets. The only way to make people exercise is to set laws for charging over baggage," he added.

This years' Kass Marathon, an annual sports event, attracted a huge crowd and over 1,800 athletes participated in the competition.

Winners of the 42 Kilometers Marathon in both genders parted with Sh1.5 million each.
