In yet another show of comradeship, President Uhuru Kenyatta maintains that the Building Bridges Initiative remains a fundamental success in his quest to unite Kenyans despite disgruntles from a section of Jubilee leaders.
On Wednesday at Murang'a, Deputy President William Ruto suggestively blamed the partnership between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, saying the latter is keen to have him separate with the president.
But on Thursday in parliament, a furious Uhuru told off critics of his partnership with Mr Odinga, adding that the truce has brought about fundamental gains in the country.
“There will be no turning back on the Building Bridges Initiative that assures inclusion, cohesion, unity and respect for all Kenyans," Uhuru said.
So blossoming has been the partnership that the two have promised to fight corruption indiscriminately for the sake of prosperity in the country. The approach has however rattled a section of Jubilee leaders.
While addressing MPs on Thursday, Uhuru insisted that he will not back down in the war against corruption, adding that he's convinced that his actions are bearing fruits.
“No turning back on the war against corruption as it is a just war, a war to prevent misuse of public resources for selfish interests by those we have entrusted to manage them," he observed.
Contrary to expectations of their lieutenants, the two reconciled in March 2018 after months of divisive elections that saw Uhuru losing a case on the Supreme Court of Kenya.
