This is due to the ongoing drought that has led to a minimal supply of water.

Led by Mbatha Isingi, the residents lamented that they are now depending on water from suppliers who have hiked prices.

Isingi on Friday told Hivisasa in an exclusive interview that a 20-litre Jerrycan goes for Sh20 and some people cannot afford this.

"We are buying water at 20 shillings per 20-litre Jerrycan. It's a struggle for some of us. What's more, businesses are not booming as before because of the lack of this commodity. If only the government can supply to us water using a boozer it would go a long way," said Isingi.

He said that the water being consumed by the residents is not very clean for consumption unless it is boiled, something he adds poses health risks for many residents.

"We don't know where the water we are sold comes from you know when one sees a chance to get the money he or she wouldn't want it to pass. We are not sure whether the water is clean but because we have no otherwise, we are left to use it, "he said.

He noted that it's evident the rains won't come soon, therefore, the county government should plan on how it's people will access water citing that many water sources have run dry.
