Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday revealed secret strategies that the National Super Alliance (NASA) had in its strategy to capture power or force President Uhuru Kenyatta out of the presidency.
After Uhuru Kenyatta’s win was annulled by the Supreme Court in 2017, and a repeat ordered, NASA boycotted it giving Kenyatta a walk over.
The opposition, however, refused to accept Kenyatta’s legitimacy leading to the swearing in of Raila on January 30, 2018, as the peoples’ president days after Kenyatta was sworn in as Kenya’s president.
Raila said that a key strategy in their cards of political war was to ensure that all President Kenyatta’s portraits in NASA strongholds were plucked and assembled at one place for burning.
After that, NASA would start collecting taxes from businesses and other government entities within their strongholds to fund the government of the people.
This, Raila said, would have ensured President Kenyatta’s government lacks enough revenue to run the affairs of the country and create a crisis.
