President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to have a sitting with all Kikuyu artists on Tuesday next week at State House, Nairobi.
Speaking in Muthithi, Muranga County on Thursday during the burial of fallen Kikuyu secular music maestro, Joseph Kamaru, Uhuru said that he is committed to ensuring that the Kikuyu music industry continues to thrive.
"I am inviting all of you to State House next week on Tuesday so that you can tell me how you would want me to help you. Yes, you just come I will slaughter for you... There is no problem about that," Uhuru said in Kikuyu language.
The request had been made earlier by nominated MP Maina Kamanda who said that Kikuyu artistes were very pivotal in Uhuru's re-election bid last year through their music.
The President also promised to sit with Kamaru's family to ensure that his legacy continues to live on.
Before his death last week at MP Shah Hospital, Kamaru had stated that he wanted to build a cultural museum in Muranga where Kikuyu youths would be taught on their culture and traditions.
Kamaru had also intended to use his rich experience in music to 'revolutionise' Kikuyu music industry to ensure that current and upcoming artists benefit from their art.
Kamaru died at the age of 79 and his burial was attended by among other leaders Deputy President William Ruto, opposition leader Raila Odinga, several governors, MPs and MCAs.
