In an exclusive interview with a Borabu politician close to the DP,  the campaign team was constituted in January to steer his 2022 campaigns.

"He has crafted a team of loyalists some of whom he has worked closely with in many years.

"They help in coming up with his itinerary besides helping in strategies such as where and when to go to which region," he said.

Among those in the team popularly known as Kitchen Cabinet include Aden Duale, Kipchumba Murkomen, Susan Kihika and Aaron Cheruiyot.

Others include Caleb Kositany, Moses Cheboi and youthful Lang'ata MP Nixon Korir along with Personal Assistant Farouk Kibet, Private Secretary Reuben Maiyo and spokesman David Mugonyi.

But none of the members from the team that hails from Mt. Kenya region where the DP has been pushing for his bid after backing President Uhuru Kenyatta for two term made it to the list.

Those suspeciously missing include Moses Kuria, Irungu Kang'ata, Kimani Ichung'wah, Sabina Chege among others, who have openly declared his decision to back the DP.

However, a strained relationship between Ruto and Uhuru is said to have precipitated the Head of State to ban his lieutenants from accompanying the DP to various functions.

"Nobody owes me any debt, not even any region, " declared Ruto when responding to claims that the populous region may have dumped him.

But a source privy to DP's maneuvers says that he is no longer interested in the region's support.
