However, despite the heavy campaigns and popularization by some of the leading candidates, there was a low turnout in most of the voting centers.

According to pictures shared on social media showing the actual situation on the ground, there were shot lines of voters waiting to cast their ballot.

The race has since narrowed down into a two-man race between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Ochilo Ayacko and his Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) counterpart Eddy Oketch.

The two have been engaging each other in a stiff competition ahead of the race, a situation that led to heavy campaigns.

Ayacko who is a former Member of Parliament for Rongo was endorsed by opposition leaderand ODM party chief  Raila Odinga towards the tail end of the campaigns on Thursday and Friday last week.

Other candidates eyeing the seat are Samuel Otieno who is an independent candidate, Dickson Ogolla (independent), and Peter Jobando (Green Congress Party).

According to data from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the county has a total of 388, 633 voters.
