President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to have suddenly developed unprecedented love for the lakeside county of Kisumu.
Also, he seems to be using the same county to give his political statements, the latest being on Saturday when he got away from his security detail and drove to a secret place.
Also, it is in the same place that he has twice pledged his support for the proposed referendum, the first being during his Universal Health Care tour on December 13, 2018.
He did the same on Saturday when he and his newfound bossom buddy opposition chief Raila Odinga attended the burial of former Youth Enterprise boss Bruce Odhiambo in Koru.
Uhuru also seems to be using the county to further demean his deputy William Ruto with whom they appear to have lost love lately and is doing the same through Raila.
On Saturday, he proved that what is between them is more than meets the eye when he postponed his flight to Nairobi to tour the city alongside Raila.
Uhuru was about to fly out of the Kisumu International Airport but not only shunned the same, but also snubbed his security detail to leave with Raila for the Kisumu Port.
This is an indirect demonstration that his initial love with Ruto is lost and could be working something out with the former Prime Minister.
Raila who doubles up as the Luo Nyanza political kingpin is a longtime presidential hopeful who is likely to face off with the DP in the 2022 presidential race.
He embarked on the tour without fearing for his life, considering that he was until March last year the most unwanted man in the region after Raila cried foul in the 2017 elections.
Uhuru still trusted the people of the region with his life, though they never noticed him he proved in a common SUV with normal registration.
This is an indication that the Head of State has found a new home in Kisumu and the entire Luo Nyanza.
