In a counselling session with the students at the institution on Sunday, Gudu further cautioned the female students against involving themselves with older, and monied lovers, popularly known as sponsors.

He urged them to instead concentrate on their studies to avoid both distractions, and possible violent endings as has been witnessed lately.

"I want my girls to maintain their dignity and remember that they came to study and must concentrate on that alone. They should also live within their means," he told the media after the session.

His remarks were echoed by area lawmaker Paul Abuor who also said that his office is in the process of establishing several police establishments in the area to curb cases of crime against locals, and specifically female students.

"We are putting up several police stations and posts, some of which will be up and running by December," he said.

This comes barely a month after the abduction and murder of second year Rongo University medical records student Sharon Otieno, who was later found dead in a thicket near Oyugis Town, Homabay County.

The slain beauty has since been confirmed to have been involved in a romantic relationship with Migori Governor Okoth Obado's, and was heavily pregnant with the county chief's baby at the time of her killing.
