The latter was attending the funeral of Claudio Opondo, spouse, to Kezia Opondo who is a Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was accompanied by the party Executive Director Joseph Towett.

Salat who is a close ally to Baringo Senator and KANU party leader Gideon Moi said that his party is warming up for the 2022 general polls.

The Secretary-General, whose party has hinted at fronting Moi for the presidency in the 2022 general polls added that the side is ready to form alliances with like-minded groups ahead of the poll.

"We are still discussing seeking electoral alliances ahead of the next General Election," he said,  according to the Standard.

This comes barely 3 months after Moi attended a fundraiser in Homa Bay late last year, a tour that saw area leaders propose his union with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

However, Gideon has been among the top leaders calling for political calm and the stop of early campaigns, urging politicians to await the right time.

The party is the oldest in the nation and would lose its footing when it was unseated by the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in 2002 when president Daniel Moi (Gideon's father) retired to pave way for former President Mwai Kibaki.
