The mourners were lamenting of increased accidents in the area, complaining that cases of pedestrians being knocked down by speeding vehicles have been on the rise.

They placed the casket on the road which disrupted traffic flow for 30 minutes, lamenting the death of David Gichuhi, the deceased, who was knocked down by a trailer at the spot last week.

They said that the 29-year-old was riding on a motorbike with his friend who was also killed in the accident and vowed to keep the casket on the road before having a change if mind.

"Kindly let us respect the family which is in grief. We are all in pain by the sudden loss of the two but this won’t help much today,” one of the mourners said, according to the Standard.

They then directed a preacher to pray for the road, before proceeding to the burial site.

The other victim, 22-year-old Steven Mwatha was buried in the same neighbourhood on Wednesday and whose father Njoroge Muthondu is now a sorrowful nan as he was set to join university later in the year.

He said that the university fees for his son ended up being used for his funeral.

“I had just set up a hotel that would help him raise funds for his education at Laikipia University in September. I had also given him fees for the first term which we instead used for his funeral. He had great dreams and his death is a great pain to the entire family,” he said.
