Logically, the life of an alcoholic cannot be compared to that of a non-alcoholic. Alcohol generally shortens one's lifespan as it poses his/her life to several risks and dangers.
Here are some of the ways through which alcohol could kill you;
1. Alcohol could instigate cancer
One way through which alcohol could kill you is because it increases risks of developing either or a number of the many cancer types. Some of the cancers associated with alcoholism include; liver, colon oesophagus and pancreas.
As you take alcohol, have it at the back of your mind that you could develop any of the above cancer types.
2. Liver disease
Alcoholism also causes liver cirrhosis which is a major cause of death of alcoholics. The problem of liver cirrhosis is usually detected at later stages when it cannot be easily contained.
At this stage, one's eyes turn yellow and suddenly they lose appetite. The disease is fatal and the only solution is liver transplant which is another risky process.
3. Driving while drunk can cause an accident
Drunk driving has caused numerous deaths in Kenya and this does not only kill the drunk drivers but also the sobber people involved in the accidents.
People should not drive when under the influence of alcohol or other drugs as this risks the lives of the other innocent road users.
