Comedy has recently grown in Kenya and has become one of the best sources of employment.
The number of Kalenjin comedians has risen due to the fact that it is paying young people.
Here are some of the top talents from the Kalenjin communities.
1. Propesa
The group is known by the popular hello call, 'hallo William ni sisi," is one of the best. It comprises of Larry Matayos, Kiptangus, Chemosi and Kimutai Ruto alias Propesa who happens to lead the group.
It is a group which has occasionally hit the headlines by their comedy acts one which involved them with Sportpesa CEO Captain Ronald Karauri in which they won a bet they had wagered on Hull City to trounce KPL giants Gor Mahia and Karauri had to hand them the keys of his Rangerover.
2. Brobox
It is also a group of Kalenjin comedians who are being paid to crack jokes in events. The group are students at Egerton University who have gone a step to venture in their talents as well as pursuing their studies.
They have also hit headlines several times after they phoned DP Ruto welcoming him to their launch of the group back in 2018 at Cabanas Nairobi.
3. Jemutai Comedian
Jemutai is also a comedian who usually crack jokes, especially on Churchill. She is known by the Kalenjin cultural drink, Mursik which she usually carries along as an energizer.
4. Ken 'Mercy'
He is a comedian who most people identify by his ability to mimic ladies. Ken who hails from Bomet is fast rising Kalenjin comedy star who is also paid to crack jokes in several events.
Other Kalenjin comedians who are fast rising include; Tula, Siogi, Mc Japhe, Susana, Bot Tomining'ion, Bomori of Kass among others.
