A man from Bonyakoboke village in Bonchari Sub County, Kisii County is in shock after his six cows died mysteriously.
Oeri Mabeya said his dairy cows didn't show any signs of sickness.
"I woke up on Wednesday morning milk the cows before taking them to a grazing field and found them lying down on the ground. At first, I thought the cows were sleeping but, attempts to wake up the cows were in vain," said frustrated Mabeya.
Mr. Mabeya who could not control his tears blamed his neighbor for the death of his cows.
"My neighbor had threatened to kill the cows after I refused to give him 2 liters of milk. I'm appealing to authorities to investigate her since she must be the one who bewitched my cows," he added.
Elias Ondieki, a local veterinary officer said he took the samples to establish the cause of the mysterious deaths.
"Two weeks ago I dewormed the cows. It is shocking that they died once without showing illness signs," said Ondieki.
Area assistant chief Charles Ogwora said the suspected neighbor has been questioned over the mysterious deaths.
"Where are we going to buy milk from since Mabeya who has been the main milk supplier has lost his cows under unclear circumstances. Witchcraft must stop," said the chief.
Mr. Ogwora appealed to locals to stop being jealous of other people's property.
