Like elsewhere in the world, marriages and relationships in Nairobi are not usually a bed of roses. It's where lovers’ emotions, needs, and feelings should be handled amicably. When various needs are neglected, the marriage might turn out to be the spouses' battlefield.
The most malicious enemies of any marriage institution include:
1. No communication
Through effective communication, partners share and express the joys and sorrows, solve any issue that threatens the marriage and strengthen their bond. When communication is halted, the healthy relationship becomes more troubled.
2. Inattention to mutual interests/goals
Shared interests help to bond mutual admiration in a marriage set up. Spouses who pursue mutually enjoyable activities are more likely to have strong, loving relationships. Their happiness is when their better half is around them. Lack of keen attention to shared interests (what both partners enjoy doing) is more toxic to marriages.
3. Ignoring sex life
Sex has a lot of benefits: mental, emotional, physical and social health. Any healthy marriage requires sex since it boosts the general wellbeing of the couple. Neglecting it only troubles the marriage and increase the likelihood of extramarital affairs that ruin most marriages.
4. Selfishness
Self-centeredness has negative effects on these marriages. Love should be based on selflessness; where you should consider the relationship needs first before your personal needs. Selfish desires are ever hungry but you should starve them for the sake of your marriage.
