Keynan says that the country is not in the right frame financially to conduct a referendum.

The Jubilee MP says that a referendum is costly and will derail the government development agenda if conducted now.

Keynan further says that the referendum will plunge the country into early 2022 campaign mood.

According to the MP, the best time to have a referendum is after the 2022 general election.

“There is no need of subjecting Kenyans to more economic hardship in the name of the referendum,” he said on Monday.

The Jubilee MP further said that there is no hurry to amend the 2010 constitution.

Keynan claims that some politicians pushing for 2010 constitutional amendment are focused on creating more political positions.

The vocal MP claims that there is a plot to change the constitution to favor certain political losers.

Raila has insisted the referendum is unstoppable even as a section of politicians among them Garissa MP Aden Duale oppose it.

Last Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto made a surprising move when he declared support for the referendum.

The DP had been earlier quoted opposing the plebiscite push.
