According to Mr Robinson Anyal who is the chairman of Hotel Managers Association Western Kenya, the tremendous growth has positioned the city for massive investment, business and development opportunities geared towards economic growth.

Speaking at the Prinias Hotel in Kisumu’s Kaloloeni Estate on Wednesday, Mr Anyal said that the bed capacity in Kisumu hotels has drastically risen from initial 1,000 to over 3,000 within the last ten years.

“The city is still open for more hotels. The aim is to have a bed capacity of 5, 000,” he said.

Prinias is the latest hotel to start operations in Kisumu, with general manager Fredrick Odhiambo saying the security situation in the Lakeside City is key to the growth of the hospitality industry.

The facility has 43 accommodation rooms, 3 Conference halls that can host 20 to 70 people and a spacious rooftop with an aerial view of the Lake City.

Kisumu has been calm and very peaceful since the March 09, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga.
