The government wants a Rastafarian girl from Kibera be allowed to go on with her studies without any intervention over her faith.

The girl was sent home by Olympic High school over her dreadlocks.

Education CS Amina Mohammed said the girl should be allowed back to school.

Speaking to the Star, the CS said the girl is entitled to education and should be allowed back to school.

"It is not right to interpret to others how they are supposed to live," Amina said.

The girl's father, John Mwenda, has sued the school over ‘discrimination’ meted on his daughter.

He told the court that the dreadlocks are not a fashion statement but a matter of faith.
