Kisii Governor James Ongwae has suffered a major blow after nurses in the county failed to report back to work as ordered by the Labor Court.
According to the union of nurses Kisii branch assistant secretary general Eric Rioba, Kisii nurses will not return to work until their demands are met.
"We are not going to go back to work. The threats by the county government that nurses who are still on strike won't work. Our demands must be met before we will resume work," he said.
Mr. Rioba reiterated that the ongoing strike is protected by the law.
"The job boycott by nurses is within the law. Governor Ongwae's government will not sack us because we are demanding what belongs to us," he added.
Defiant Rioba asked nurses to remain at home until the county government of Kisii addresses their grievances.
He said nurses will hold a mother of all demos on Friday in Kisii town to push the county to pay their allowances.
"Kisii residents are advised to seek medical attention at private hospital since in public schools there are no nurses to attend to them," said Mr. Rioba.
