The former lawmaker who challenged Awiti as an independent in the 2017 gubernatorial contest lost to the ODM candidate.

However, he was given a political lifeline by the High Court which nullified the Governor’s win, a decision which was later upheld by the country’s second most powerful Court.

A report in the Nation indicates that while speaking over the weekend in the county, the former Kasipul MP declared that should the Supreme Court uphold Appellate Court ruling on Awiti’s re-election, he will be vying for the seat on an ODM ticket.

In what will be a repeat of last year’s nomination that saw the former legislator controversially lose to incumbent in the race for the Orange party ticket, Magwanga may be keen to make amends to his 2017 bitter loss that cost him the coveted seat. And for the embattled Awiti, his controversy-dogged political career may be about to take a new twist.
