Ongwae's Sh107 million project of construction of a modern retail market is set to begin in three months time.
The project is set to be constructed at Nyakoe market in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii county. This comes due to the directive given by the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) in relation to the request made by the Kisii County Governor James Ongwae.
"The construction of Nyakoe modern retail market in Kitutu Chache South Sub county is scheduled to commence in three months’ time. The project which is to be implemented by the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) will be constructed at a cost of Kshs. 107 million," Ongwae said on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
"Today's reaffirmation and commitment by the LBDA managing director to have the project commenced and completed in time is a realization of the request I made and the subsequent promise by President Kenyatta in 2016," a part of his post read.
Marking the first mega project in that region since Ongwae resumed power, the projects' legal preliminaries had been conducted which includes public participation and tendering designs being finalised.
"As the first steps towards actualising the project, my team has already conducted public participation exercise and designs are being finalised for tendering," Ongwae added in his post.
