Duke Mainga who was suspended by Governor James Ongwae over claims of sabotage condemned the recent brutal killing of former University of Nairobi student leader Samuel Ragira alias OCS.

"The government through the Ministry of Interior needs to move with speed to ensure youths speaking their minds are not killed. Ragira was killed because he stood for the truth. As youths we don't want to continue seeing youths being killed for no reason," he said.

Mainga appealed to youths not to succumb to threats saying impunity must be dealt with to the end.

"Ragira's death will not mark the end of the fight against impunity. It is important for people to know that he died but he has left more strong people behind to fight cartels," he added.

Mainga made the remarks on Saturday at Kerera village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County during Ragira's burial ceremony.

He challenged more youths to seek elective posts dismissing the notion that youths are future leaders.

"This is the right time for youths to take up leadership roles," said Mainga.
