A middle-aged woman died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town.
The late Monica Jebitok had been seriously assaulted and stabbed during a fight with her neighbour at Chebarus village in Kesses location.
According to an Affidavit signed by a police officer attached to Kesses Police post, Viola Jepleting is the main suspect as she is believed to have been involved in the cause of Jebitok's death.
"That the deceased before her death was seriously assaulted on 2nd of October 2018 at about 12:30 pm at Chebarus village within Kesses Location. That in our custody we have one suspect namely Viola Jepletng," reads part of the affidavit.
The suspect, Jepleting was arrested by members of the public and taken to the police station.
Jepleting and the deceased are believed to have engaged in a fierce fight which ended up in Jebitok getting stabbed. A close source who did not want her name to be revealed said that the two were fighting over a man.
"I spoke to his brother and from the conversation, it was evident that the two were fighting over a man. This is despite the fact that Jebitok is married and her husband was away on work," the source revealed.
The investigation into the murder is still ongoing with Jepleting in custody.
