A middle aged man is currently being held at Rioma police station in Kitutu Chache North, Kisii County.
According to Taracha location chief identified as Nyariki, the suspect Jared Ombui was caught on the wee hours of Saturday morning driving the two bulls towards Mosocho in Kitutu Chache South.
"Locals who were going to the farm early in the morning found the suspect with the bulls. Upon questioning him he started running away," said the chief.
Mr. Nyariki said the locals chased him and arrested him before they raised alarm to attract members of the public.
He said he personally rushed to the scene where he found angry locals beating the suspect.
"Were it not me Ombui could have been killed by the mob by now. I rescued him from the jaws of death and surrendered him to Rioma police station from where he will be taken to court on Monday," he added.
Nyariki said the suspect revealed that he has been stealing cattle for the last 2 years.
The administrator warned locals against committing crime saying the law will not spare criminals.
Nyariki urged residents to work hard and eat from their sweat.
